Practice Profile
We are a well-established medical practice in South Wales serving a population of around 4,500 patients. The Surgery is situated in the small village of Ogmore Vale, deep in the heart of the Ogwr Valley just north of Bridgend. Although we are based in Ogmore Vale, the practice boundary extends to the outlying villages of Nantymoel, Lewistown, Pantyrawel, and Blackmill.

Practice History & Background
Like much of the Welsh Valleys throughout the 1900′s, the main source of income for Ogmore Vale came from the coal mining industries with the valley railway line providing both goods and passenger traffic between the neighbouring village of Nantymoel and the coastal areas of Porthcawl. In fact, the last working colliery was closed as recently as the early 1980′s. The old village stores “Gwalia Supplies” can still be found in the Welsh History Museum at St Fagans near Cardiff.
The building itself was constructed in 1987 by Dr Verghese and was officially opened in November of that year by the late Dr Saville. The Surgery was built on the site of the old Workmens Hall and Institute, which collapsed in 1981 after some serious flooding.
After Dr Verghese’s retirement in 1995, the Practice was taken over by Dr Murugiah. Dr Yoganathan joined the partnership in 1998.
